Helicopter Weddings, a fun exciting and unique option for the more adventurous couples, and obviously, smaller wedding parties. Maui’s main heliport is located in Kahului, where the main airport is as well.
From Kahului we can whisk you away with the most unique view of our island paradise as your reward. When it comes to helicopter events we work primarily with Maui’s premier helicopter operator and their safety record is spotless. Most often Maui helicopter pilots are only permitted to land at airports/heliports, which gives you two wonderful options, Hana and Lanai.
Helicopter Option #1: Hana
For those seeking a serene and enchanted escape, Hana is the perfect destination and location for your special day. The northeastern coastline of the island is a dense lush tropical rainforest with the secluded little town of Hana located on the eastern tip of Maui. This area is truly the last undeveloped area on the island, where tranquility is the way of life.
Most visitors to Maui visit Hana for its spectacular beauty but it can easily be a three hour drive each way and visitors often return with mixed reactions. By helicopter to Hana you will get to see the amazing Haleakala Volcano Crater and the beautiful northeastern shore of Maui as you fly to your ultimate Maui destination wedding.
There are quite a few beautiful locations in Hana for the ceremony and or reception, including some the island’s beautiful colored sand beaches, fabulous private estates, and the well appointed, Hotel Hana.
If the bride and groom, or the entire wedding party would like, you can stay the night in Hana and fly back the next day. This can be easily arranged as Hana has many options for lodging including a luxury four diamond resort and spa, an absolutely beautiful property.
Helicopter Option #2: Lanai
Lanai is a small island just west of the island of Maui. The island of Lanai has a few unique wedding and reception sites to choose from. For over night stays there are two luxury four star resort and spas, a quaint little inn, the only other option is camping.
This secluded Hawaiian island was the destination wedding location where Bill Gates and his bride chose to exchange their vows and celebrate with their many friends and family. Even if renting out the entire island may not be in your budget, we can still plan the perfect Lanai wedding for you. It’s your special day, you should have the best!
By Helicopter to Lanai: You will fly north from Kahului and out over Kanaha beach, one of the most popular windsurfing and kite surfing destinations in the world. Then out over the ocean for your short hop to Lanai, this is where you might see a pod of dolphins or humpback whales (in season).
The most commonly operated helicopter is the A-star. The A-star holds six passengers, four in the back and two up front with the pilot. It is recommended to wear dark colors when flying because light colors will reflect off the windows and interfere with any pictures being taken. There is a great view from any seat.
I’ve been on easily 20 helicopter flights since I’ve lived in Maui and still I jump and run for the heliport when ever they call me with an empty seat. Hawaii from the air is always special and memorable. -Jesse-
